A note to accompany my exhibition at Galleri Trottoar.

My artwork is autobiographical. It started in the 80´s printing my fathers discarded woodblocks in my parents workshop. My parents were glove makers. I made a book called the Glove Makers Daughter.

Then after many years of printing and making paintings side by side, I started
printing on linen and included different printing methods into the paintings.

On a hillside in a traditional house overlooking the Pacific ocean in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, I lived with Gerald 5 years. Gerald Shaw played homemade instruments and made hundreds of carvings and reliefs from fallen Bocote trees we found during our walks in the local forest. Some of the carvings were given to me. I took them with me to Europe with a feeling I could incorporate them into my work. These carvings remained in a case for some years until I discovered them again.

”Devotional Emblems” is the title of my most recent project that mirrors a process that has taken many years to evolve. The exhibition in Galleri Trottoar gives me the opportunity to hang these pieces in a window space, so that both sides of the hanging objects can be seen. Print after print from one object to another, the cycle is complete.
